No, "no tech trading" means no tech trading between AIs as well. Every civ has to research every tech on its own, slowing down the tech pace somewhat.

I feel sad that handy who is the originator of the grumpy old men series, isn't around. I am sure he would like this game as well and maybe convince him that Civ4 can be fun.
 
Killed 110 units and lost 8 including 1 suicide cannon, and 5 bad RNG rolls. The other two losses was a mistake I made not gaurding our new choke city with enough units.

I captured Numidian and Amiens.




Fascism is due in 1 turn, I suggest revolting immediately. Luxury slider is at 40% again, WW is up to 20 in some places. Some cities are starving but Frankfurt and Munich actually need to starve down some.

When drafting from Cologne I found this a little funny...



The Numidian choke is the only choke city that is taking a little heat.



You should easily be able to take Avignon next turn Rat.



Chartres however is a different story...



When I moved our small stack next to the city I saw that Louis had a ton of catapults in the city plus 3 more on the way. That is a lot of collateral damage and our stack might get wrecked during the IBT.

As a final note I am happy to report that there was no city losses, unneccesary use of the luxury slider, and most importantly, the right amount of turns was played :D

I can see that we will get dyes and furs as additional luxes, that will do us really mighty good
Avignon looks like a junk city to me that we raze and replace
WW is really high, increase to 50% lux to avoid starvation

IT we go 10:2 on defense losing the 2 units to India

1. 1871AD
facism is in, astronomy next on the way to physics, revolt immediately
we get the Statue of Liberty
need to get our furs back, go 9:1 at the choke and reoccupy furs
defeat 2 cats and raze Avignon, surprisingly the culture borders do not change at all, guess Paris must be close
suicid a cannon at Chartres, defeat 6 units

this pushes the borders back and we start to connect dyes

IT no attacks on the IT and anarchy is over, time to MM the empire

2. 1872AD
we can reduce lux to 20% and with dyes possibly to 10%, science 60% and astro due in 5
go 5:1 at the choke and it's pretty much cleared of enemy units
dyes are online and we go 10% lux

3. 1873AD
we have sufficient units to hold the choke, all reinforcements should go to take out France
progress slowly to the French core

4. 1874AD
reach Paris, that is full of cats

IT we survive 3 attacks at Paris and defeat 4 units at the choke

5. 1875AD
bomb Paris defenses to 0% and advance more units, defeat some units at the choke and sink the usual caravels
I am sure all the nets ripped will causes some health problems too
decide to start rushmore in Bremen, it takes 18 turns but we will eventually get it

IT France goes 9:2 in an attempt to save Paris

6. 1876AD
suicide a cannon at Paris, then defeat 6 units

kill 3 knights at the silver city

lux is now 0%, Paris has Notre Dame, maybe that's the reason

IT defeat 6 units at the choke, astronomy is in dropping our income, physics next

7. 1877AD

at the choke, stay passive, try and advance in farnce as fast as possible, lux needs to be raised to 10% again

IT India suicides 4 units at the choke

8. 1878AD
advance towards Orleans and Lyons
found Bochum in France

IT no attacks as the AI seems confused as to where to attack :lol:

9. 1879AD
defeat 3 units in Lyons, 1 left, Orleans has 2 units left
we got a Great Prophet, put him next to Hamburg, we can use him as a specialist to generate more money of wait for GA
for 2 more?

btw handy did play the first AW game with us, but it turned out to be somewhat dull until we got airplanes. He lost some motivation, hope he comes back to read this thread and then join us again.

So what victory are we going for, conquest or domination? I have the feeling Industrialism is the last tech we're going to need since so many cities are coastal. Destroyers/Battleships can serve as Artillery and Marines can free up the Panzers to focus on interior targets.

Why are we building the Kremlin? Are we ever going to be in Universal Suffrage?

It looks like Hattie is next.

I agree actually that there is no need to build it, maybe denial purpose? Can it lessen the drafting penalty, because Cologne currently needs 2 citizens per infantry.
Anyway no hammers are invested yet into kremlin, Cuzco can actually churn out 1 turn infantry, it's very powerful. It doesn't even have a coal plant yet due to health issues.

I vote for conquest if it's not too tedious
 
I'll go along for conquest. Maybe capture Hattie's lands and then once Panzers come in we burn the rest?

Or maybe we raze everything from here on out and accept having to raze some stuff twice since the AI will run to settle the open land.

Or option #3, keep cities with health/happy resources we don't already own. More happy stuff will help with the era post-Panzer since I expect we'll be advancing on multiple fronts simultaneously.
 
I think our next step should be to conquer the central hub and thus denying all Civs access to other areas. Then we can take them out all at the same time razing the cities keeping happy resources (I don't think there are many left btw). Cuzco can build us the happy modern wonders in short time.

I agree with conquest. I also like Rat's idea to keep all interior cities but raze all the other hubs.

But, are we going to capture another hub. I'm not sure how close we are to a domination victory but if we are far away capturing Egypt's hub could really boost our score. Just a thought.

btw, great turns Rat.
 
Just thought of something else. Capturing the central are or a choke on each hub will seperate the AI's up. We will no longer have to deal with larger stacks, but only puny ones at each choke.
