You wouldn't happen to be an Eric Flint fan as well would you? (While I have read some of Turtledove's Crosstime Traffic series and enjoyed them, I disaggree with his "great person" philosophy... I.e. if one "great person" like Alexander Graham Bell wouldn't have been born, then we wouldn't have telephones... which, I may add, is complete BS, since there were at least 4 prior, more primitive telephonic devices, as well as at least 1 other phone patent almost identical to Bell's being filed at almost the same time... Flint takes a more realistic view to his alternate history... I.e. if there is enough people with the rudimentary knowledge of how things work, then they'll eventually figure it out).
The 1632 series would be a good source for some interesting alt-history units, should you feel like doing them.
