Guess the new unit

I have a feeling that these will see use in ye olde steampunk scenario.

Great job, BTW...

You wouldn't happen to be an Eric Flint fan as well would you? (While I have read some of Turtledove's Crosstime Traffic series and enjoyed them, I disaggree with his "great person" philosophy... I.e. if one "great person" like Alexander Graham Bell wouldn't have been born, then we wouldn't have telephones... which, I may add, is complete BS, since there were at least 4 prior, more primitive telephonic devices, as well as at least 1 other phone patent almost identical to Bell's being filed at almost the same time... Flint takes a more realistic view to his alternate history... I.e. if there is enough people with the rudimentary knowledge of how things work, then they'll eventually figure it out).

The 1632 series would be a good source for some interesting alt-history units, should you feel like doing them.

I believe it was Hugo Gernsback who said "It steam engines when it comes steam engine time".

@Hikaro.... have you seen the Steam Wars pics online? Hilarious.. I love the aesthetic quality of Steampunk, loved the visual style of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen etc..

As for reading. I used to read quite a lot when I was younger, but in the last decade the only thing I've made time for is HT's books. I've only read the Southern Victory and his Colonization series (and a few other less known and lesser quality stories). I know of 1632 but have not been motivated to look into it.

As for my somewhat absense in this past month.. I've been posting a lot of my works on the Alt-history forums and some of the uber-dorks want to crown me king or their new god. I dunno...

Why yes I have... I've even seen the Steampunk Lego Star Wars contest entries... Truly amazing some of them (as for the Steam Wars originals, I particularly like the Rebel and Imperial Recruitment posters.... They look just like an actual WWI-era recruitment poster).

Also  at them wanting to crown (or deify) you... You seem to get that a lot from people.

I ain't S***ting you either.

Duuuuuuuude! Those are some sweet designs.... I may try a few things like that myself, once I get the beta for the FF mod out the door, although I'll more likely be working on improving the FF mod....

I'm in need of a model. P-39 Airacobra or the P-63 KingCobra. I need it to make the Confederate Hound Dog fighter. All I have (and have been able to convert) is an old P-39 but it's not good enough. I need something with more substance to modify.

I don't have this model alas but I hope that you are going to find it because I would like to add a soviet Kingcobra in my mod.
I think i have this unit in the games Combat Flight Simulator and IL-2 Sturmovik but I don't know if it's possible to convert them under a format that can be useful for you

I just want to dig up this old thread to make a small anouncement.

Do not ask me to help you by sharing my toys.

It's the kiss of death.

Me giving you 50 megs of models is the quickest way I can see of stopping you creating anything for civ.

I have a ton of models to MoscaTNT, he's gone after making only a few infantry.
I shared a bunch with NavyDawg and he's practially MIA.
I give a TON of models and textures to GenRommel and he get's conscripted before he can work on some of my request.
I do the same for GaryChildress and his time dissapears with volunteer work.
About the only person I have given models to, and has not run off is Sandris, but only because he's focussing on pre-industrial stuff at the moment.

So that is why I am loath to share.. because everyone runs away with my toys.

Wow, they really are cursed!

Give one toy at a time, and do not give another untill the first one ends up in a unit. :)

If you dial up the prop blur to represent a 4blade and bool the tail/rear stabilizer flat it would look reasonably close. The little intake near the body would be easy to "bryce" in, but is probably not visible at civ scale.

Working on these last night.

I'm very happy with how this turned out.

Here's some more that I did.

These are not specifically mentioned in the book but they fill roles that are needed. The B-26 Marauder is shown on the cover of the last book, but it's head on so I can't see any roundels and I don't really remember it mentioned.

US Paratroopers were dropped on Lookout Mountain, well something had to drop them

As for the stripes, instead of black/white normandy invasion stripes, I used Luftwaffe colors for the home flak ID bands. Clever?
