I was looking around Best Buy the other day waiting for the people I was with to finish shopping when I stumbled across the Guitar Hero 2 game out for a demo. When this game came out, I thought it would be lame in the genre of Dance Dance Revolution and the like. (Sorry, these games are lame to me.) The plastic Guitar already seemed very 'Playschool-ish' but I figured "WHat the heck I want to see what everyone made a big deal about this last Christmas.
So, I picked it up and started a game. I wasn't doing to good as I wasn't exactly sure how the guitar controller worked 100% through the first try. I quickly failed the song but knew how it worked this time. Second time around I was missing notes and hitting wrong keys, sounded terrible. Quickly failed and that is when I noticed "Change songs".
They had "War Pigs" on it sung by the Ozzman. Thought that was pretty cool but not a real big shocker. Now that I knew the rythme, I started doing better and it was pretty fun. I would do real good up until the Guitar solo towards the end of the song. The people I was with came back ready to go and I was on "1 more turn" syndrome. ROFL. This game is pretty cool but I don't know if I would buy a system for it.

My question is to anyone that has this - do they come out with new songs to download/buy or anything or are you just restricted to the few songs on the disc? I would suppose if you played it enough you could do it in your sleep. Without new material to play with the game would get old fairly easy once you got the hang of it.

You can't download new content for the PS2 Version, however it does has over 50 songs.
It's being released for XBOX 360 and they say you'll be able to download new content for that.

ahh guitar hero 2 that is da shiz ni

and just like what captin said you cant download content YET

XBOX360 and WII mabey PS3 will

Actuallyto the original OP, none of the songs are from the actual albums, they had some music company remake them with different guitar players and singers. It was the same way with the first one.
