Gunpowder Empires

Ah, war everywhere, so much fun. These massive maps are both wonderful and hateful.

1595 – It was go time and we were finally on the move! In the south, we advanced towards Vidisha with a eclectic collection of Foot Infantry and Artillery units.

1596- Now it was time to head east, we advanced on Prayagraj with Infantry and Artillery units, plus a huge reserve of our powerful Artillery Cavalry 10-4-3 ready to pounce.

1597 – The counterattack was on, after a blistering Rocket Wala bombardment glorious Mughal units rolled in liberating both Vidisha and Prayagraj!!!!!

IBT – Also in the south, Gujarat broke through against Bengal capturing Wardha but then lost it. Gujarat was also at war with Vijayanagar, that might be what’s slowing them down.
Both the Tahirids and Portuguese made beach landings at Sindh!!! These guys were dealt with though, as I had a bunch of captured Dutch artillery waiting for them. :nope:

1601 – In the south, Gujarat was now making quick advances on the Bengal and we took advantage by pushing further and liberating Madla, right before the Gujarati could take it!

1603 – In the east, the siege of the large Bengali city of Varanasi had been going on for 4 straight turns, reducing the city to size 1. I wanted to make sure there would be no resistors in there, to avoid the Culture Flip! We finally launched the attack and captured Varanasi along with the Great Wonder “Burton’s Kama Sutra”! :groucho: We still did have 5 enemy tiles in the BFC though! Even better news, I had almost ended all of the other wars I was in, receiving many GPT.

1605 – In the south. we kept pushing and captured Ratanpur! :yup: There were mostly Gondwana citizens there, so I was fairly secured it wouldn’t flip. The Bengali had carved out a linear path all the way to the west coast of India and I was ready to chop them in half, but first I needed to bring in some Workers so we could move a little faster. Back east, the massive bombardment of the Bengali capital Patna had commenced. My plan was to reduce the citizens of this city as well before launching the assault.

1606 IBT - Gujarat and Bengal signed a Peace Treaty. Okay, but we now had the upper hand on Bengal, they were a smaller civilization after all.

1607 – Back in the east, I launched a massive attack on the Bengali capital, but it was not enough to capture the city! We both took some tremendous losses here!! :shake:

1610 - Patna had been blasted to size 1 by this time and our units had fully recuperated to give it another go. We launched another massive attack. We were down to our last unit, but did take the city including the Dancing Girls GW! WOO HOO!!! With their war against Gujarat over, we started to see more Bengali attacks, but it was limited to scattered mounted units that we could easily cut down.
The path to Patna was long and arduous, I was getting bogged down in the meat grinder over there and to continue going East taking onto another Capital city would be too much! I made the decision to go south and then cut back up north along the coast to Calcutta! :deal:

IBT - Ottomans and Safavids signed a Peace Treaty.

1614 – We rotated a majority of our Cavalry from the East to the South and with the roads finally built, launched a quick assault on the city of Cuttack and then Belasore! Capturing both in the single turn, with no artillery support! The Bengali, free from any other war had started sending more units to attack West Bengal, but I had got 9 captured Rocket Wala in this sector! I also decided to start disbanding any other artillery that was captured, it was becoming too easy. I think I’ll start playing with this rule again, so it’s more challenging.

1614.jpg

1615 – All resistors in these newly captured towns had been put down and there were no enemy tiles in BFC!

1616 – The distances were much longer now and my Cavalry units were outrunning my defenders, but wasn’t; going to wait, we went for Calcutta and captured it! :band: This was a big city, but there were only 2 Bengali resistors in there, the other 12 citizens were British subjects and they were happy to be rescued! We had no defenders that could secure the city and so I decided to negotiate a Peace Treaty, receiving 20 Gold, 14 GPT and 4 Workers.

The Safavids had almost doubled us in VPs.

Changes:
Study how to slow the Safavids down a bit. Or maybe modify how VP’s are scored.
This game is set for 300 turns, but I never get anywhere close to that. I shall change it to 150 turns and make every turn 2 years.
Test the scenario with the “Hidden Railroads” for quicker movement, especially after the remaining Civs start becoming much larger.
Next game, I shall allow the Trespassing. Although more annoying, it’s more challenging with the AI sneak attacks!
I want to give the Rajput a bit more starting units, they should be stronger!
Will add more commerce for Harbors and maybe coastal tiles in general to make the coastal cities more valuable.
Once again the Dutch (with only 1 city) became a powerful conquering Civ in India, while the Brits whimpered with 3 starting cities in India. I need to look and see how to get the Brits more help!
