Will start the animations later (I'm doing several units at once, and other stuff, plus learning)
Almost complete with the skeleton (learning that in Maya at the moment)

Come with your critique so I can change it before I start animating.

the only "bad" thing I can see is that he has wierd looking hands and he is a little boxy.. other then that there are nothing that will look bad in the game... (when in a model it doesnt have to be perfect you know...)

Well, he will be like 10% of the size of this image so his hands will not show ;)

Even this model is TOO detailed for a civ3 unit, they don't need this detail to look good. I could have done the texture in 25% of the time I did it, and it would still have enough detail for a civ3 unit.

I like it, the boxiness, or the hands will look diferent in game...as sir john pionted out.

I do nave a question, is he articulated as seperate objects or one piece? ohh....:) and did you make the texture yourself?

He is in 2 pieces, the head and the Body (the head is in 3 pieces, but 1 group).

I am preparing a skeleton for him, which is the way to animate singleobject models.

Yup, I made the texture myself. Although I used images of Master Chief that I copied from, skewed, resized etc... and used a lot of the "Clone Tool" in Photoshop. A tool which can draw with a picture. I also used the Brush of course, and the blur and smudge tool at times. And I used about 25 layers.

Here is an example of how the texture look:
MC_TextureExample.jpg

(This is half the size of the texture, the original texture is 1024x1024)

Thats exelent craftsmanship, I must say :)
how long did it take you to do it? (texture) and all in a 2d program :crazyeye: that would give me a headache.

Its looking good, how far is the progress?

Here's a preview for ya!

Thanks :), this is my first animation with a skeleton. My first attempt at a character running infact... I used Balou's Spetsnaz as reference.

That look very good, but can you lift his head up alittle so that the color of his visir show? that would be cool..

I'll see what I can do.

This is not the final angle, so we'll have to see what he looks like when that's set.

Stick his left arm out further, so its not so curled. This should also extend the gun to a more foward facing postion.

Plus, have his torso tilted foward with his head facing a little bit up, so we can see his visor

He is not supposed to carry the rifle with the barrel forward, he is holding it in a "carrying" way. Take a look at Balou's Spetnaz preview.

His torso is tilted a bit forward, and I'll see what can be done about the visor ;)

This is probably not the correct angle anyways.
