I guess I deleted the game wrong or something...

It does this everytime I play my Scenario or Civ 3 in General after 5 or so minutes:

I've reinstalled it several times but it still won't fix itself.

Error2.bmp

SO I tried using a PTW Civivlization3x.Exe and it gave me a little extra time but in the end I still got This:

Error.bmp

What should I do

Which operating system? If Vista or Win7 you may be having problems with Virtual Store keeping files from your old install.

If that's the case, my solution would be to uninstall and then reinstall into a different location, say C:\Users\Public\Games\CivIII so that Virtual Store and program file protection aren't a problem. I made a video installing it to an alternate location: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OC7ALkeoZmE

Windows XP

Some thoughts and probably none of them will help.

One, could the scenario be causing the crash? This is just a wild guess; I've never done any modding. But since you just started the game and are at 2049 AD, that makes me wonder.

Two, could there be a patch problem? I messed up my Civ 3 Gold by trying to patch it when it wasn't needed. That was in 2005, I think, and I don't know remember what I did to mess things up, aside from being sorta stupid.

Three, find Civ 3 Complete (all three versions in one install), with all three versions fully patched and enjoy PTW thorugh it. Not the best solution, since it doesn't solve your problem.

Four, if uninstall and reinstall is not working as you expect, then unistall once again and run a registry cleaner to remove any old entries. I use WinASO, which is freeware. It will fix 10 mistakes at a time, but you can run it as many times as you need and run it for particular problems, too. After that is done, then reinstall.

Bad sector on the hard drive?

Sometimes Microsoft will be able to deduce a possible fix for your problem when you get this kind of error message.

If you install this on another machine, does it still crash?

It used to play Scenarios fine until this happened.

Shouldn't be a patch problem.

Got a new computer. Still won't work

I just discovered a freeware program called Revo, that is an uninstall utility. In the Advanced Mode, let it uninstall Civ, and it will scan the PC for places that the Civ uninstaller may have missed. The company download is >>HERE<<. This the link at >>CNET<<.
