Have I won?

So, I was playing as the Chinese, standard warmongering, crushing my north/south neighbors, meeting up with the other continent.

And so now, after I had reached tanks, and now churning out armies (I had gotten 2 MGLs from an ancient-age war with Byz, Score!) and I noticed that:
1. Spain had gotten to replaceable parts.
2. They had one source of rubber.

So I went to war with them, aiming at their city adjacent to their rubber. I thought it would be easy, with a tank army and a carrier full of bombers. But they put up a better fight than I expected, what with their multiple 20+ stacks of infantry riding on railroads. But in the end I took their single city, and the world's only other source of rubber, and the signed a peace treaty with Spain.

Now looking at the units that require rubber, it seems like I just limited the entire rest of the world having their best unit be Guerrillas.

So, have I won?

You essentially won, it sounds like. Officially you have to met one of the victory condition that you have enabled. Space Launch, UN vote, eliminate all nations, get 66% of land/pop (Domination) are some of them. You also can win or lose by score at 2050.

Rocketry (iirc) allows a resources free unit called ToW that they can make, tougher than Infantry.

Yeah, I know the standards.

I think TOW infantry needs aluminum or something. They may or may not need rubber-- but at the time it seemed like everything past infantry needed rubber! The point is, they can't get Modern Armor. And I'm churning out an Army every 4 turns. Heh.

You may have won the battle, but not the war. Finish that map then start a new game.:lol:

Nope. They're part of the Archer-Longbow-Guerrila-TOW line. They don't have a resource requirement.

I read that TOW are supposed to be good for killing AI tanks. Their stats don't look overly strong compared to a tank. Is there some behind-the-scenes bonus for TOW attacking tanks? Or are the stats wysiwyg??

I know TOW have a bombard feature, but I've never used them for offense, just city defense.

I don't pay any attention to the winning conditions at all. I play till there is nothing left to do, usually somewhere around 2200AD. For me its about finding a groove that keeps the game engaging and me looking to the next thing to be accomplished.
