I was explaining Civ and GCiv to some high school students today, and someone asked me if I had ever nuked another (human) player in MP mode.

I haven't. I've never played against a human opponent in either game (excepting some limited hot seat Civ games against myself, and one hot seat game of the Activision version against a roommate).

Has anyone ever nuked a human opponent? What was their reaction? What was yours? Any screen shots?

The only time I have used nukes was a test to see what they did in the regular game, and of course, using the Atom Bomb in the World War 2 scenario on Japan. I was playing against the computer every time.

I've never played MP, but I'd never hesitate to use it and never trust anyone with the ability to use it.
Literally, 3 nukes and your empire is at shambles.

Boy, would I love to play you in MP Theov. Not against you necessarily, but just knowing you were out there. In fact, I wouldn't want to know which civ you were controlling, just that you were in the game.

Too bad the MP has to be done by email. A game with 31 human players in real time (but still turn based) would be awesome. The diplomacy alone would be exceptional I bet.

I wonder if Obama pretends he is playing Civ III.

Not necessarily the case. MP with disc copies is still done by Direct IP either by port forward or Virtual Networks like hamachi, and there are MP communities still around that play on them and on the steam version. The steam version the MP server has been up for about 2 years so easy lobbies can be hosted which people can join. If you want 31 players, you of course have to do PBEM though.

nothing personal from my side either, but i'd love to nuke the crap out of your cities as well.
