Having fun with the game again

I finished a Rome game in Civ VI and was thinking about which strategy game campaign to try next.

My pc doesnt run Civ 7 with full graphics so I decided to get the basic version for Xbox S series.

I wanted to start a new game with open mind and enjoy the graphics on a big tv screen and have a chill game, and it actually worked.

It should have been developed a bit longer but it's still a fun game with many good mechanics and also many missteps. I will also keep playing Civ 6 and AoW4 but Civ 7 as well.

At the moment it's pretty straight forward like Civ:Rev (a game Ioved though!) but I think a great, if different, Civilization game can and will be built on this core.

Two big things I would like to see in the future:
Let player keep the current civ in the first and second age change!
It's not full "classic mode" but this way you could play longer with for example Rome, or with Spain if you choose them at second age.

More weighty decisions and negative consequences too!
In Civ 7 it feels to me like everything just gives you more bonuses, more yields, even bigger numbers.
There should be choices with more consequences,
like for example some of the goverments could give you a negative modifier too.
Example: Democracy brings more war weariness. Fascism less war weariness but less culture. etc.

Great to see a happy post!

I'm thoroughly enjoying it myself, haven't been able to stop playing since I got it mid-April, played 708 hours already - of which 118 hours in the past 2 weeks!

I really like your suggestion of negative impacts, I mean there are some in the policy cards during the late game, but I'd love to see more.

Governments are so underused… It‘s a good idea to make them interact with celebrations, but they should also impact the game in more ways than the simple bonuses they currently provide. That’s probably material for a paid expansion though, and not just a patch away.

Still loving it, glad to see people giving it a chance. All this chatter about "classic mode or nothing" is so grating over time. Some people just need to get over it, the changes they want break the game as it, they need to rebuild everything from scratch and run everything that makes VII stand out. Civ VIII is going to be a very boring iteration when it is just VI(2)

Yea I accepted it that it is not realistic that this iteration would do a complete overhaul, and concentrated on the good stuff.
It paid off! 🍻

"People need to get over it"
So I need to pay money and spend time with something, that I really dont like. Is that what you are trying to say?

This whole "people need to get over it" stuff is always nonsense. No, people dont need to get over it. People have a voice and they are allowed to use it. And people vote with their wallets. It is you, who needs to get over it and learn to respect the opinions of other people.

You talk about respect, and yet you feel the urge to invade a positive thread with negativity... again !

Many of the people complaining had opportunities to either read reviews on the game prior to purchasing it, or to request a refund afterwards, if they spent money and later regretted it, then that's on them. I had 4,000 hrs in Civ6 and have 650 in Civ7 so far and will never go back to 6 as to me this is much better game. Stick with 6 or an earlier version if that's what you prefer but the complaining or social media 6 months after its release is getting old for many of us.

Um no one has to ever respect another person’s opinion they disagree with. You can disrespect an opinion without disrespecting a person.

I don't think anyone here is going to coerce someone else into buying the game and playing it. But I do think there's a limit to exactly how much values your complaints have if you haven't played the game yourself...

The game's mechanics don't appeal to you. Okay then. Play a different game in the Civ franchise then.

I'm at 650 hrs and play most days, i got so tired of reading people *****ing about the game that i've become less active on some social media platforms etc.

So you're saying that Civ VII has greatly improved your happiness and mental health by getting you to disengage from social media? Sounds like a pretty good deal for $70. :)

Not really, i love social media and i am admin over a Civ group on FB, the negativity over the last 6 months towards Civ7 on certain platforms has made me less active on those sites. I actually spent $120 pre purchasing the founders edition and consider it money well spent.

I also bought civ 7 founders at 120, got to play it early on the launch date and made a few friends on discord that disappeared. I mean I disappeared but they're still around playing other games and so do I but I still come back to this thread once in awhile to check it out.
