Having problems with Server 2003?

I've been digging around these forums for a couple of weeks since reformatting my laptop with Windows Server 2003 (to replace XP Home). While on XP Home, Civ ran fine at high graphical detail, but ever since the reformat, Civ alternatlely ran terribly to impossibly slow given my system specs (1G RAM, 3200 Athlon, Radeon 9600/9700 Mobility). I tried every fix and tweak under the sun, but finally I just switched to XP Pro and the problem was solved.

Tech support by the community is pretty scarce for 2003, so I figured that if anyone is wondering why their game won't work and they're running Server 2003... a reformat back to XP Pro might be in order.
