Having trouble with internet games on Steam with mods

I'm trying to set up some internet games through Steam with this mod: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/bts-40-civs-allows-colonies-and-34-civs.234779/. The creator has said it should support multiplayer, but I don't know if Steam is different. When I try to find my internet game on another computer, no games show up at all. Has anyone had any success with this type of thing?
