Have just purchased a new computer with Windows 7 OS. Installed Civ 4 but it will not start, come up or anything. It says for me to insert the disk but it sounds like it is having trouble reading the disk and just keeps running the CD.
It becomes obvious to me that I am doing something wrong, I just don't know what. I have told the system to identify and use the XP programming which the game was written for I believe but nothing happens.

I'm having similar troubles on Windows 7. I have succesfully installed the game, there's an icon on my desktop however any time I double click to start it, a window pops up to ask permission to load the game, I click the 'go ahead' button yet absolutely nothing happens, not even an error.

I tried the windows7 solutions but nothing changed, if anyone has any clue on what to do please help :)

Regards,
NegPL

I have every Civ except Colonization (The New Version) but have uninstalled them all for now...
does windows 7 still install them using the windowsXP thing???:)

Same here. Colinzation just hates Windows 7!

The steam version is working fine for me with Win 7 home premium 64 bit. Try r-clicking the exe and running in win xp compatibility mode.
