HBOs "Rome"

They cut out the politics to focus on the boobs and mimsies, and tell us it's because we're well-educated. It's too surreal for words. Boooooo! Bad BBC!

I'd love to boo along with you but I've just been informed that the tape got recorded over . Needless to say it was with some meaningless formulaic dross.

but I like boobs and mimsies.... ;) actually, I can very much see why they would do it, and have to say its probably better in the long run, as it will keep more people interested, and indeed, given them the itch for more of the same, spawning more swords and sandals conflicts, which all just makes history more acceptable, interesting, and cool to the general populace. the reasons why Caesar wanted to becoem dictateor for life can take a back seat to that, IMO.

Well, it proved most entertaining- and educational too. I had no idea that "The Brazilian" was so popular with the women of ancient Rome.
Who's "The Brazilian"?

I don't know about the cable coverage in India, but to asnwer your question, according to my local newspapers, yes(it's 26 in Malaysia)!!

I'm sure some parts are going to be heavily censored though, but who cares, it's ROME!!!

We don't use that term over here
I suppose it means shaving pretty much everything down there to wear tiny bikinis, like brazilian women usually do.

We'll proabaly get it too. On the 28th most likley. We get things 2 days after Malaysia I noticed. Anyway I orderdered the DVD set from the US.

I downloaded 11 episodes so far. But I have only watched the 1st one. Are they all that sex-oriented? I don't watch TV-series to get horny. It seems well made though, but if they're just an excuse to show ancient poontag and thus get good ratings, I am not interested.

Downloaded from where?

Its HBO. Sex is randomly added (often for little purpose), but the story seems fine even without those scenes.

Its awesome they've picked it up for 2nd season. I feared it would meet the same fate as HBO's Carnivale, but ROME has some significant advantages compared to Carnivale. First off, Carnivale was a great series all in all but the main story processed too slowly. I think people just got bored with it. The story in Rome processes in huge steps the whole deal with Caesar was consumed in the first season! I think it was perhaps a bit too fast, but I guess the producers were in angst so to speak.

The second weakness of Carnivale was that it actually had enough story for maybe a 2 hour horror flick whereas Rome has almost limitless resources to exploit.

Third, its a portrayal of a Roman society, a very graphic one. So it contains necessary amount of sex, violence and general moral corruption to keep us interested. I love it :goodjob:

   and its the best thing brazil has ever contributed ot the world, evah. you may seek to becoem a great and powerful ecnomic power, but let me tell you, nothing brazil will ever do in the future will match the wonderfulness of putting that into style ;)

I hear some women choose an even better style of fashion to wear during Carnival in Brazil ;)

OK. I have watched 10 episodes so far. The show is freaking great. It is interesting and exciting, you can't wait for the next episode. Fortunately I don't have to because I have downloaded them all :goodjob:
Its now 03:45 AM and I am going to watch the last episode, man its good to be unemployed; GO WELFARE SYSTEM!! :woohoo:

Its too bad Caesar isnt in charge of the (your) nation; he woudl kick some uber-rich people off thier land in order for you to have a decent living :smug:

Not to mention he would spread the gospel of Latin and Roman ideals! :)
