What is the story with the AI units healing so much faster than the player's, even when they move? Is this explained anywhere?

AI units and player units heal at exactly the same rate. Units without march don't heal when moving, units heal faster in friendly territory, in a friendly city, and with a medic, and much slower in enemy territory. If you're attacking a city in enemy territory, the defenders will heal pretty quickly and your units will take 10 turns or more to heal unless you have a medic.

Unless it's already more that half it's max.

I'm pretty sure it gives you 50% of the health needed to max out HP, regardless. So if you are at 6.6 strength out of 8, that would be 1.4 needed to heal. A promotion would garner an automatic 0.7 points healed.

I usually don't pay attention to it though, so that could be wrong.

Hate to burst your delusion of grandeur, but you are wrong. The situation I am referring to happens in the player's territory as well as the AI's. Based on the consistency of the responces of players less full of themselves, I'll presume the reason for the what I am seeing is that the computer is promoting itself to heal quickly.

Yes probably. :)

I was not trying to be patronizing. If that was the feeling then I apologize.

I however have notice a lot of incoming questions from new members that would not occur if they would use this sites recourses to their full potential.

there is a newb thread sticky at the top of the list and the search function works just fine. The war academy on the main page should answer about 95% of all new player questions and I even learned lots of stuff about the core mechanics of the game.

I agree there is no such thing a dumb question but this forum should not be the first stop on the path to enlightenment.

Mango, good call, but it's based on HP, not direct strength.
A promotion heals a unit half of what it has left of HP to be full strength. (EXAMPLE: 72/100 HP gets promoted. (100-72)*.5 = 14 therefore, the unit will heal to 72+14 = 86HP.)

EDIT: The HP is calculated to strength by using it as a percentage. From the above example (and let's say a longbowman): 86/100HP => 86% => .86*(6 for str) = 5.16 str.

What, are you high? Of course there are stupid questions? How much ducks take bring a house? There you go.

By the way, most stupid questions, as seen above but not in the original post, lead to corrections which usually lead people with "smart" questions to a better understanding of the game.

To get back on topic, I agree with what Pantastic and Blitzkrieg 1980 said, you were close Mango. Also, back off topic, nice avatar Swedishguy.

I think I got all that.

I just feel that there are a lot of new threads that have popped up lately, that were not needed, if the poster had done a little homework.

Oh well, no since griping about it. Got a better chance of Middle East peace then changing the minds of interweb posters....
