Mediterranean 400bc aims to take you to the time of the rise of the Roman Empire and the fall of the Persian empire, allowing you, the player, to decide how history will unravel. Will you play as the Legendary Roman Empire and restore Rome's glory? Will you play as the Greek City states, defeat your rivals and give birth to a new empire? Will you play as the Persian Empire and conquer the undefeated greeks? You now have the power to rewrite history!

Factions:
SPQR - Roman (Purple/White)
House of Julii - Roman (Red/White)
House of Brutii - Roman (Green/White)
House of Scippi - Roman (Blue/White)
Carthage Empire - Carthage (White/Red)
Garamantians - Germans (Dark Green/Gray)
Caledonians - Celtic Tribes (Light Blue/Dark Green)
Picts - Celtic Tribes (Orange/Green)
Franks - French (Bright Yellow/Light Blue)
Peloponnesian League - Greek (Light Blue/White)
Delian League - Greek (Cryan/Gray)
Independent City States - Greek (Cryan)
Persian - Persians (Red/Yellow)
Egypt - Egyptians (Yellow/Purple)

PLEASE NOTE:
Not all the factions are going to be historically accurate in their placement. Like the Romans, some of the other cives will be chopped into two or three of the same type but under different leader names. This is just to balance out some of the cives. The only two exceptions to this so far are Carthage and the Persian empires. If you have any ideas on either replacing a cive with another or giving a set of cities to another civ, I am all ears. I would prefer to keep each of the Northwestern cives limited to 3 cities per faction.

========== Update Log ==========

***UPDATE 5/19/18***
- Gave House of Brutii an additional warship

***UPDATE: 5/20/18 5:12am***
Tech tree will begin in the Classical Era. As long as you use the recommended mod listed on the Steam Workshop, you will not be able to advance past the Medieval Era. If you dont use the recommended mod, this limitation will not be applied.

This is what I have done far. The following links are of my present progress.

***UPDATE: 5/20/18 5:57pm***
Resources:
For balancing reasons, resource placement will be determined by both strategic value and rarity. Example, Gems only has about 15 locations across the whole map. No more. Wales are only available in the deep waters. Some resources like Bananas won't be available at all as Jungles will not be present on the map. Iron can only be found near mountains. Ect. The goal here is to make expansion almost a must. It also increases the value of trade agreements with other factions and may also be a primary cause to go to war.

***UPDATE: 5/21/18 1:19am*** (Recommended by @SLGray)

Did you just use the Roman map to see where cities were located? The reason why I asked is that the Roman Empire fell before the Middle Ages. Exactly the fall of Rome started the Middle Ages. Also you say that the tech tree will begin and end in the Middle Ages.

The Greek city-states were like mini-nations. They never really were allied all together. Some were allied against each other.

Athens and its allies vs. Sparta and its allies

That is one of the reasons why Rome, the Persians, and Alexander the Great could take sections of what will become modern day Greece. It was not until during the Ottoman Empire that there was a movement for an independent Greece.

There were also leagues. You could call the factions leagues. In a way they were considered one entity.

Well the Ottomans are Turks.

Turks are people from Turkey or any of the Central Asian people who spoke Turkic.

Well, it isn't going to matter now. According to the historical references I found, the Persian Empire already controlled by Turkey and Egypt, spanning from the black see to the Nial River. Anything before that would be around 500bc, just before the rise of the Persian Empire. About the only thing I could possibly simulate is a Babylonian Rebellion, but again this was also before 400bc. I could still do it for balance purposes though. While I don't have an exact date, there is note that the Egyptians declared independence from the Persian Empire. Possibly before 400bc. The only problem I see with this right now is the Persian Empire would be an early game powerhouse. Almost guaranteed to win the game, even if played by an AI. The most I could do is make the start of the game difficult for the Persian Empire.

Unhappiness would plague the region. Growth would be slow. For the AI, this would be fine as they are slow to adapt to the issues this presents. (Or so I have noticed) but I can't say the same for a human player. Hum...

Well, Egypt was under Roman rule during the Roman Empire period. It was under Roman protection (Roman Republic) until the defeat and death of Cleoparta. It was after her defeat and death that we start to say Roman Empire.

Unless I may be mistaken, that is after 400bc. By then, Rome already conquered most of the known world. Since the map is not set that far ahead, I got to hit the spot around 400bc. According to what I was reading, Egypt was independent prior to the rise of Rome and during the rise of Rome. But I could just as well be mistaken.

Exactly Caesar placed Cleopatra on the throne with her brother. Egypt was under protection of Rome, not the Roman Empire. It was after her defeat and death, that the first Roman Emperor was crowned.
