Hope someone can help. This is very frustrating. I bought CIV IV and have loaded it several times on my laptop. This is a 1 year-old "high end" 17" (for example, G-Force GO 6800 256 card, etc) proprietary model that runs my other 3-D games like WOW, DungeonSiege 2, just fine! My drivers all up to date, altho I have not updated the video card because with laptops you have to do this thru the manufacturer, which is causing a prob.
The weird part, is that I already had the free DEMO on the computer last December, when it came on the Computer Gaming World mag Disk. It ran fine then. I removed the game thru Control Panel before I installed the store version. I have tried several times and always get same result: When I DC on the Launch (or Launch within Start button), the LOADING screen comes up. The Hard Drive whirls quite awhile. Then a Blue and White Windows box comes up.
The headline is: Cannot Locate the CD Rom Underneath, it says: Please insert the correct CD Rom, select OK and restart Application.
The problem is, the disk is IN the drive. I have only the one internal drive. I HAVE tried using the other disk, which ironically is named Disk 2 / Play, but apparently is NOT the Play disk. I know because I loaded the game onto my desktop, and altho it WAS a problem, and not a smooth installation (the autorun did not work for example), I have managed to get it to play there and the Install disk is the one that has to be in the drive.
After no success, I downloaded the 1.61 patch and it appeared to take just fine. But the same result when I go to start the game.
Anyway, I am very disappointed because the desktop is the "family" computer, and the laptop is mine.... really hoped to play it there! And I cannot understand how I had the DEMO run so smoothly! Is there some other file that Add/Remove did NOT remove that is causing the prob?
Any suggestions / help greatly appreciated....

Hey Crunch,
Appreciate the help. Unfortunately, while I am a reasonably good gamer, I am a few steps behind in computer terminology. Please could you Reply again, this time with a bit more information about both your suggestions, or perhaps where I could Search to learn more and get whatever I need to try those suggestions. Thanks.

I would rather not elaborate it here because it might be against forum rules. I'll try to send you a private message or e-mail.
