reverend oats
King
Hiya everybody. In a current game, I have reached a decision point, and I would like some advice.
The settings:
Wang Kon of Korea
Emperor Difficulty
Large Fractal Map
Epic speed
The game this far:
I started on a peninsula, and was able to build a nice little empire of eight cities. The entire continent was a Buddhist lovefest, except for poor Monty who got the stuffing beaten out of him by Julius Caesar. I built the Great Library and won the liberalism race through bulbs, taking Printing Press to boost my cottages. Then I began gearing up for war, going Gunpowder->Chemistry->Steel. I built up a significant army and immediately upgraded all my siege to cannons. But the problem was, I did not know whom to attack.
My initial target was Asoka, for several reasons. He was the top dog, had the longest border with me, and owned several useful wonders, including the Mahadobi, University of Sankore, and Notre Dame. The downside is that he had an unknown power level and the technology for knights and muskets. Also, some of his land would be hard to maintain due to cultural pressure.
The other option is Pacal. First and foremost, he has a tiny army, and my espionage allows me to see most of his cities. He has been taking the Banking and Constitution lines, so no risk of rifles popping out or anything. He land is nice grassland, though some is under threat from Asoka's culture. He has a couple of Wonders, the Spiral Minaret and Sistine Chapel, though neither is as juicy as the Indian's.
So, Civ Fanatics, which target would be more profitable? The fate of an entire nation is in your hands!
