Ok, so I want to upgrade my comp, did my research, got another GB of RAM, and now it's time to get a new video card.

For the card, I want AGP, preferably 256 MB RAM, and higher end then my current GeForce 5500+.

However, I don't want overkill in price or since your computer is only as good as the weakest link, don't want my Athalon XP processor to do anything to it.

Any suggestions?

I would suggest xfx 6600gt new egg has them for $146. I've Owened one of these and works great. I now have a 6600gt but pci express version.
Another option would would be 6600 LE I think new egg has them for $77.00, pretty good deal for a budget.

How will the 128 MB as opposed to 256 MB affect my preformance?

I don't think any card with 256MB of VRAM that costs less than the 6600GT 128MB will outperform it.

However, I'm sure there are some 6600GT 256MB cards available if you look around, though they will cost a little extra.

6600GT or x800 Pro, I've been using an x800 Pro 256 for well over a year now and haven't had any problems @ 1280x1024

do you WANT agp, or NEED agp? i mean, can you warrent upgrading your mobo, and getting a new video card? if so, diffinally go for PCI-e, much faster than AGP. might i suggest Either a 6600GT or a 6800GS, both have pci-e and agp versons, i believe
