I just got Civ 3 about a week ago. One of my favorite parts of past Civ games is customizing my civs. Well, since Firaxis removed the option to set your civ's leader's gender, I wrote them an angry letter and they pointed me to the Scenario Editor -- they said you can change the genders and a whole lot more.
Okay, so I puzzled my way through the editor, and I created a new civilization. I basically took the Iroquois and renamed them to the Polynesians. I renamed all their cities, all their great leaders, and their ruler. I then attempted to give the Polynesians their own Unique Unit.
Here's where things got screwy. I took the Mounted Warrior (don't need it anymore since the Iroquois have become the Polynesians) and I converted it to the Outrigger. The Outrigger has all the same stats as the Galley, except it can end its turn safely in Sea squares. I changed the graphic to match the Galley, too. I made it upgrade to a Caravel. I left the Civilopedia entry pointing to the Mounted Warrior.
Apparantly, changing Unique Units screws up the upgrade chain for virtually *all* Unique Units (or at least horse-related ones), so I had to fix the upgrades on Samurai, Riders, Knights, Cavalry, etc.
Okay, so, thinking I was done, I saved the "scenario" as Polynesians.bic. I loaded up the game and started up by loading this "scenario" and chooisng Wet, Warm, Islands, Standard Size, Regent level. I chose to play the Polynesians. Everything went great until I tried to build my first Outrigger. The city worked on it just find, but as soon as they completed the project, the game crashed.
What am I doing wrong? Why can't my Polynesians colonize the islands like their real-world counterparts?
Any help is appreciated . . .
