For better help I´d need more information!
- brand of soundcard, type of it (e.g. is it PnP or not, ISA or PCI ...)
- OS
- soundcard driver versions
- type of connected speakers
- more info you can give about the problem
A few things to check:
Speaker problems:
- Is the speaker cable connected to the correct output?
- Is the speaker cable working at all? Check with a common stereo system or simply a CD-player, walkman, discman. Just connect the speakers via the headphones port.
- Is the speaker power cable working properly? (Most speakers have some kind of LED to show the on/off status.
Soundcard/software problems:
- Is the soundcard working at all? Connect a headphone to an output port and try it.
Under Windoze you can check whether you soundcard is working in the speaker menu in the taskbar. Run a sound, if the column in Play Control shows a volume level, then it´s a problem with the speakers.
- Check the System Properties in the Control Panel to see if your soundcard is having a hardware conflict with another device! (yellow exclamation mark)
- Check the Multimedia settings in the Control Panel to see whether your soundcard is selected and enabled!
- Check the volume levels in Play Control!
More in depth help is only possible with more information, but sometimes the problem is one of these simple things.
