I think I might have to change ISP soon. I've been using Tiscali broadband since January as I had used them for dial up previously and the didn't appear to have a data tansfer cap. However I got an email from them saying that I am an extreme heavy user and that it violated their fair use policy and that they would cancel my account if I didn't cut my use to 30GB a month. The main reason I went with Tiscali is that there was no mention of a limit cap. So I'm going to look for a new ISP in the event they cancel my account and this is where I need help

-It needs to be availible in the UK
-Offer 512k ADSL service (I would like a faster service, but because I live so far away from the telephone exhange nothing else is availible)
-Be reasonbly cheap. I'm paying £20 at the moment and I'd rather it didn't go much above that, but I can be flexible if the service is good
-Be reliable, by broadband can be unavailible for hours during the day at times, I'd like 24 hour access should I require it
-Absolutly no limit cap, I want to transfer as much data as I like (I have no idea how some people live with the 1 or 2 GB a month limit the likes of BT offers)

I'd appreciate any help in the matter

Had you considered satellite? It's no good for games but offers faster download speeds.

Mind you, getting it in the UK isn't so easy. Here's a list of suppliers

The skypage is written in German, so get busy with Babel Fish on alta vista to see wha t that offers.

I doubt you'll get unlimited downloads for 20 quid a month.

Here's a review service of direct connection ISPs for the UK; NDO are looking good.

Well I'm willing to pay more within reason. I'll have a browse of the links provided.

This one males a comprehensive review, and includes regional subdivisions;-

Onetel for Northern Ireland? Cheap as chips, but not sure about service.

Bulldog has the best deal by far, though I don't know if it is available in your area:

Satellite = downloads through a dish. Then a cable from the dish to a card in your PC.

It's never really caught on - download speed is very fast(usually the supplier cripples it) but latency (lag) to when the download starts means it doesn't work with online games. Usually in involves a dial up connection as well (so you can ask the server for a particular page to be squirted down from space).

Expensive too. And your dish has to be able to point at the right satellite - impossible from some locations even if your area is inside the sat footprint.
