Help me get a custom Avatar, please

I have found some art that I would like to use, but it says that it has too many pixels(whatever they are)

I would like some step by step guidance on this one please(I am a computer idiot so you will need to be patient.

You need an image editing program such as
Paint Shop Pro / Image Composer / Photo Editor

Cant give you explicit instructions without knowing what you're using.
You need to trim the picture to be 60 x 60 pixels or less.

Plenty of threads about this elsewhere. I remember a couple in Site Feedback IIRC.

EDIT: I'm not sure if you can attach pictures that way...have to see...

You can even do it with Paint.If you have nothing to work with and are unwilling to d/l due to slow connection or something then Gifworks is an online .gif editor that can handle it ok.

Right click picture, and save it to your machine.

Click on 'User CP' at the top of the page.

Click on 'Edit Options' at top right.

At bottom of page click 'Edit Avatar'

At bottom of page, click 'Browse' to choose the file from your machine, and click 'Submit modifications'
