I just played my first full game of Noble and beat it. But looking forward to prince, I see I'm going to have some troubles. Can someone see what I do with my early game and see if it looks like I have any major holes?
Generally, I play Ghandi India. I love the fast worker.
Techwise: I go for Meditation, to get Monestaries (yummy science and culture) and Buddhism, then pick up some of the more important worker techs (agriculture, animal husbanding if I have early animal resources, the wheel, pottery, masonry). Then I beeline for Monotheism with its Organized Religion civic (best early civic in the game IMHO). After that, I go for alphabet if on a large continent (lots of people to tech trade with), or bronze working/iron working and metal casing on a small one (preparing for war #1)
Building wise: Typically I go warrior, warrior and send the first one out to scout, the second to fortify. Then it depends on my growth- I don't like to go worker before I have at least 3 pop, so I may do a 3rd warrior or a monestary. Then a worker, then another building to grow during (usually stonehenge). Then I start producing my first settler. I generally alternate building then settler during growth phases.
Improvements: I make my worker build farms near the river to speed growth, cottages elsewhere. I leave trees alone. Resources get whatever they need to claim them. Roads only where needed to connect cities/resources in early game.
Expansion: I typicly build as many cities as I can, so long as I can go 80% science without a loss. Is this a good rule of thumb?
