I'm the Persians on Deity level, tiny map and am stuck on a 6 tile tundra island. Its the year 1300 with a despotism goverment and I'm in the middle ancient ages. I have 1 city which is size one and can't grow. I was forced into a war against the Industrial age Babylonians. I got a great leader and made an army. That army won a battle. Meanwhile my friends the French betrayed our MPP(they had nationalism) and attacked me. I killed 9 Babylonian units until I lost an immortalRight now I have an army of 1 immortal and 1 other elite immortal. Am I out of luck?

Well u cud umm lose

Now what kind of help do you seek?
It's possible to get such a crappy location and it's also possible to win from such a crappy location even on deity.
For your current situation you should try to get one leader, build UN and win due to the good relations you should have had with your neighbours. Is that possible ? If your answer is no, than you have lost on deity. Getting to 1300 AD on deity is a good start.

Wow, on diety they are only in the industrial ages? I was in 1050 and they won by the Space race

They will listen once you have put the hurt on them. Even killing a couple of units is usually enough.

Yeah but when do you get a chance to even kill a couple of units on diety especially when he even said he had a really crappy starting place

Guess what! I made peace with the Babylonians and only lost 40 gold out of 83. But they have an army on my island, and when I went to the negoitian screen, it said"remove troops or declare war" I didn't want to risk it. Then I halted a French infantry and rifleman attack. They made peace and gave me literature, currency and 5 gold. Pure luck I think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Babylonians havn't attacked in 23 turns.

West German,

I don't know if he posted about it over here, but a guy called Aeson once played a Deity game (as the Persians) and got stuck on an iceberg. He ended up winning via domination with Modern Armor. This was, IIRC, on a huge map/16 civs. There is a thread dedicated to it on Apolyton, in the CivIII strategy forum, called "So Very Cold (of the map generator)"

You may find that it's an interesting read. Me, I would have laughed at the start spot and restarted.

That is truly incredible. I just can't believe how much better people are at this game than I am. I struggle to win at Monarch! Even at Monarch, I'd probably quit that game! I'd really like to see the thread about Aeson's win to find out exactly how he went about winning from such a crummy start position

that is crazy, i have a pretty tough time on monarch also! i have no idea how he did that

I knew I read that somwhere. I even searched the forum for the thread as I was positively that Aeson did win on deity from a tundra island position.

Arrian, Aeson chose that crappy position on purpose to show that the game is winnable in any circumstances.

... and to show us all that we are light-years behind him in playing this game.

Best game of Civ I've seen. A real masterclass.

I've read through the thread many times and each step seems almost impossible - the whole thing was just incredible.
