Help!Patch152 installatin error

It took me three hours to download the patch......

At the end of installation there was a warning Error 1706 said cant' find the source data??? and detect the floopy drive and CD-ROM, then the setup program continuted and finished. I run the civ4 and found all the word turned into unreadable chars!

I run the same patch in my friend's PC and nothing went wrong!

Anybody help me please.

"Error 1706.No valid source could be found for
product Sid Meier's Civilization 4. The Windows Installer cannot continue." to be exact.

Do you have SP1? SP2? No SP? (I asume you have XP?)
Do you have anything non-standards things installed on system? Style-XP type programs, antywirus, firewall, office, CD-copy/emulation stuff... anything that is changing much of system files and possibly work in backgroud?

Win XP, but sorry, I dont know what is SP1/SP2, I havent update winXP for two years...........

Is it possible that the Setup programme unable to locate the CD-rom Burner?

I have installed it from DVD drive, DVD-Recorder and using image and some not good pirate stuff that *censure* , in other words anything I could. Downloaded patch 2 times from 2 sites. Also reinstalled game. Not tried ingame update yet, but I will.

I'm waiting for answers about this SP (Service Packs - updates for OS short saying) in other threads, if they won't have them also, it will probably be cause...
