(Note: this is a specific request for help on an individual issue, not something that most ppl will get a benefit from)
I'm one of the many with the ATI rendering bug...I use ATI RADEON 9550. However, the computer I'm using came with a pre-built Nvidia geforce4 MX with 64mb memory--which from other reports seems like it may be able to run the game.
I scanned my computer for the nvidia software, and it seems like whoever put the ATI card in deleted the NVIDIA stuff--who knows, maybe I deleted the nvidia stuff thinking I wouldn't need it.
Anyway, the geforce card is still physically inside my computer, what I'm asking is this: how do I get it to work AND still be able to switch to my ATI card when I'm not playing Civ? (I realize that "switching" would be manually switching which socket the monitor is plugged into)
I assume I need to download software and drivers from nvidia, but, not really sure if that in itself will be sufficient, or are there other steps I need to go through? If I plug my monitor in the slot where the geforce card is right now, I just get a black screen--nothing.
The main thing is this: I don't want to screw up my ATI configuration. As you can tell I'm not an expert with this, so providing as much detail as possible would be helpful.
Thanks
