Lmao, so this quick question which has turned into a saga is now coming to a new fun twist. In a turn of luck I found my CIV CDs and when I attempted to play it. Once I did that there was an error playing a library folder or something so I uninstalled it. BIG MISTAKE I believe. For while I am here trying to reinstall it the dang thing is now saying "can not find artvideo library" or something to that effect. I'm going to try to install it again after I restarted. I'l post screenies of my failure if it goes wrong again. CD 2 has nothing on it but a data file named data2.dat or something to that effect. BUMMER.

You may have seen me in the beyond the sword forums but I am making a thread here now since this relates to this game. Bummer for me I already bought beyond the sword. So if I can't get this installed I have to go buy ANOTHER Civ Gold. And this civ gold doesn't even have the expansion warlords on it so I'll prabably get another malfunctioned CD again...

Clean the CD, try again...

If the cd is brocken, contackt support for info on how to get replacement.

I had to do some werid stuff with the hardware but it works now, just don't have the warlords expansion on it but I don't care I get beyond the sword UPS will have it here thursday

While this should be in the tech forum, I sometimes have similar problemos.

This may be old school advice, and some of these whipper snappers may recommend some other quicker fixes, but this one works wonders on even ancient systems.

Solution for all problems like this, and highly recommended for anyone with the patience, is to format your hard drive once in a while (for me, it's whenever something like this happens) and reinstall Windows from scratch. Backup first.

TIP:
Create a CD with any downloaded current drivers/ patches/ utilities/ etc, so you just install the OS, your device drivers, your core programs, and patches, and shazam! Many people will find their computer is twice as fast as it was.

If none of this makes sense to you, ask around. It's really easy, and your odds of doing any permanent damage are almost nonexistent (unless you start messing with system clocks and voltages in your BIOS.)

EDIT: The philosophy here is that a computer is like a workstation: Every now and then, you're gonna have to clean it up. Just take the tools off, re-organize your widgets, and wipe the desk. It's not a big deal.

As a side note, I stumbled across my above advice and would like to recant it.

The page http://tweakguides.com/ has much better info then my 'old school' fix, above. I guess I was on a 'clean image' kick...
