I checked the manual - still not helpful - please can anyone tell me what do the icons next to leader mean? I am Queen Elizabeth and how come I don't have icons?

Thanks for replying.

Using Cyrus as an example
The arrows mean trade route
middle one- I think is the civic type
the last icon is the religion icon. Cyrus is Jewish

the reason you do not have anything because it only shows your rivals
(i could be wrong though)

cyprus got trade icon - does it mean trade between me and cyprus?

The 3 arrows means you have trade route with that guy.
the one that looks like a scroll is an open border agreement.
the last one is religious symbol, tell you what state religion the leader has.

I think middle one is open border.
I think the arrows just mean trade potential, notactive trade.

Cyrus example, from left to right:

3 arrows = you are connected to them to trade in SOME form (road, coast, etc)
weird contract looking thing = you have an open borders agreement with Cyrus
far right icon = state religion that Cyrus is using

You have no icons by your own name because:
you obviously don't need to know that you are in trade relations with YOURSELF
you can't have open borders with yourself
you dont need an icon to tell you your state religion!

as for Gengis Khan, he has no icons because he has none of the above attributes

Just to add - I think the Civ with the religious symbol with the small gold star on it is the one that founded that religion.

So in your example, Caesar and Mansua Musa are Hindu, but Mansa Musa founded that religion.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong... ;)

Hmmm useful info!

Ok, I just got back from Civ4 - I dont have connected road between my land of civilization ( england ) and Cyrus. Miles away from Cyrus! I did see roads connected between Greece and England, that does make any sense but Cyrus?

Means this guy own the holy city to that religion.
For example, it looks like Mansa Musa owns the Hindu holy city.

Trade connections also use rivers and with an early tech coast.

Ok, I found holy city of saladin - Mecca - It has two founded religions

Civ4ScreenShot0001.jpg

but the list says saladin only has 1 founded religion? It is so confusing.

The list only shows state religions - it's meant to help you understand who's going to like whom, since religion plays a very important role in this.

that is because he isn't using the other religion as state religion.

Does anybody know if it possible to remove that screen with all the countrys?
I cant find it myself but it would be nice to do that.
