Before finding this website i just played Civ3 like a clueless newbie and got no where. Usually i would get to the Middle Ages and give up (made it to industrial once) due to poor city placement, terrain improvments, research, money managment.... basically everything a typical newbie does
After finding this website and reading the War Accademy and posts on this forum my gameplay has improved dramatically. In my first game since reading i was first to reach Middle Ages (by a long way), have high culture cities, completed 4 wonders (all made in 1 set 'wonder city') and also have just under 2000 gold.
However, despite this vast improvement i have still yet to learn how the different governments work. Ive read a few bits and pieces on the different types of government but have yet to see a full War Accademy article or post on all their good/bad points. Currently my main choice of government is Monarchy and have no idea if this is good or bad due to lack of knowledge about the other forms of controll. I did read a post somewhere that Republic is good and makes you lots of money, however when i changed to it i was losing 57 gold per turn so had to quickly go back to Monarchy.
Now for those of you that have skipped my endless babbling i will get to the point: Can anyone give me a link to a post or article that gives a nice, in-depth explanation of the different forms of government? (preferably newbie friendly
