Any advice for a novice/intermidate civ player?

I could not a good start desipte the fact i had floodplain w/ the Eygptians (industous). I could not pop-rush a temple and the citizins soon start roiting and dying of deaease from the floodplians. i was behind in techs.

Any help? I posted the 4000BC save game if any would si vous plate

Have 2 warriors fortify in each city, this allows you to reach size 4 without any riots. If you want to play a fast game and never have riots, let the governor manage moods. You can also raise the luxury rate to make settlers build faster, then bring it down once the settler is built.

Irrigated flood plains give lots of food, which helps to counter the disease. I would have the worker irrigate 2 flood plains and mine the 2 gold hills while building your first 2 warriors. After that produce nothing but settlers and workers in Thebes and use your other cities to build military.

What if I want to win culture?

But if you build culture early, in 2000BC (duly unrealisic) then you'd already get the 1000 year bonus in just a few turns, and that'be great. It's just a thing that I'm raising...

I tried ... it went well for while until the greeks out tech me (Not the Great Libary):(

They were more dangerous than the Zulu.

Oh well tryed Presia but fail agian(not a single wonder!) I might go back on that one.

Now Trying Astec, capital with TWO cow AND wheat goodie:D :goodjob: :king:.

One temple being built early in the game won't have much of an effect by having it's cutlure double a few turns earlier. Subsequent cities, sure can build a temple as their first thing if you want them to. The main reason to build temples (besides culture, obviously) is to get the city to expand it's borders so it can use all of it's tiles. The capital will already expand it's borders, so the temple isn't a top priority. 2 warriors=20 shields=2 content people. Temple=30 shields (if religious)=1 content person. Your capital should first focus on either a settler or granary (after some warriors/scouts obviously), then can build a temple when it has time, IMHO.

hbdragon and Civman,

Try playing a game without building ANY great wonders. It's not as hard as it sounds, and it will help you learn when to build them and when to avoid them.

exactly.. wonders are great (hehe) as long as u're at lower levels.. higher than Regent it becomes difficult to grab the early ones at least.. so just concentrate on making good solid cities.. if your neighbor is building one.. let them .... even give them the tech so they can.. You keep building your army.. if they succeed... just walk over and claim 'your' wonder :D
