Hi all,
I'm a long-time Civ player who's trying out the MP mode, for now just with my dad who lives across the country from me. We set up an internet MP game together (me, him, and two AI players) and successfully played it for about half an hour until we had to log off and do other things. Now we're trying to get back into that game and encountering some problems. I'm hoping someone here can clue me in on what we're doing wrong, since I'm new to the mode. Here's what's been happening:
-- We each log in from our own copies of the game and get into the Internet Lobby, where we can each see each other as logged in
-- We each click "Load Game," pick parallel files (same save year), and each get to the staging screen.
-- At that point, I see my own screen name in the player 1 slot, but player 2 says "open." My dad sees himself in the player 2 slot, but player 1 says "open." These statuses remain the same even if we wait a few minutes.
-- I click ready and launch, but the game loads as if my dad isn't logged on. It brings up a VOTE screen telling me he's not there, but if I wait he never shows up. Meanwhile, he's clicked ready and launch and had the same problem -- except that the game says I'm not there.
So basically, we're both loading and getting into the game, but each of our displays doesn't recognize that the other has entered the game. We've tried a few different save files, all with the same result.
Please let me know what silly mistake I'm making, and thanks so much for any advice!
