Every time I uninstall Civ3 and re-install it I go through an ordeal with the settings..

How do I get cities to stop deciding what to build after something gets completed? I keep telling them to ignore the 'governor' but my cities still switch to something I dont want.

If I set a city to build a knight for example, I want it to continue building knights without asking me or without changing the unit to something I dont want.

Thanks,

To do this, go into preferences (Ctrl-P) and pick Always Build Previously Built Unit . Also uncheck Ask For Build Orders After Unit Construction.

I don't know if that one setting will do it, but you will probably also want to set the governor to NOT build Great Wonders and NOT build Small Wonders. Otherwise, every podunk little town will try to build The Great Library, even if all it can do is one shield per turn.

I set the govenor to emphasis Production. This will affect which tile a new citizen works when it is created. With this setting, the govenor will look for the most productive (biggest shield) tile available, which is critical in the early game.

I do all this in my capital, and then make it the default setting for all my cities.
