ok so i'd like to play a few of these mods that you guys have made, just a quick question

i know theres a bunch of expansion packs like beyond the sword? or warlords? I dont have these, i just have the regular non expansion pack game, could these mods still work for those? or...?

also what is "vanilla"

Vanilla is core civ without any x-packs. There are a few scenarios that work just fine on vanilla civ. Any scenarios that are just a map file should work just fine. (I am pretty sure). Also, RFC and FFH have a version for vanilla civ. I would reccomend Fall From Heaven. It is a complete fantasy mod.If you are looking for medieval or ancient mods, try European Middle Ages of The Ancient Mditerainain mods in the Project and Mods sub-forum.

First, what patch do you have? You can find out by going under Advanced, and then click on one of the options to see what patch you are running. In addition, are you sure you the file path goes Civ4:Mods:(Mod Name):and then Assest and Public Maps?

Also, Make sure it goes in program files, not mygames. Putting the mod in mygames breaks saved games. (They can't be loaded for some reason.)

er

civ version 174
save version 103
build version 1.7.4.0

i put the entire extracted folder into program files -> steam -> steamapps -> civ IV -> mods

what are assests and public maps?

edit i jsut saw thos folders, i dont know what files to put in what folders ~~

Steam is where it is downloaded direct to HD correct? With no CD? If that is true, from what I can remember, quite a few mods don't work well without the CD. Try asking in tech support. They will know more than me.

Public Maps is where the maps go. Assets is where the Art, XML, Python, Sounds, and almost everything else go. When you say you can't seem to start the scenario, does that mean it doesn't show up under Advanced/Load a Mod on the main civ screen?

the folder i downloaded only contained a .worldbuilder file thingy, i put the entire folder in the "mods" folder, then i put the .wordlbuilder file into .publicmaps

i didnt get any .art xml, python, etc

one thing i dont get tho, was when i saved the game and went back to it, it wouldnt open the game again, it just stayed on the "finishing" thing forever. I know you said something about putting it in "my games" makes that happen but i put it in program files, not my games

I think that is a problem whith no CD available. WHy don't you check down in tech support?

You shouldn't mess with the python and xml and that sort of thing. You should just move around the main folder. Just extract the mod to the mods folder and check if there is another folder within the extracted folder (ex: WWII_Mod with a WWII mod folder within it, just take the WWII mod folder and put that in the mods folder). If you get to the part with assets and art, you've gone too far in.
