Hey guys...

Hey, Thanks for the answers Dan...

By the way, there has been quite a bit of debate over program size, whether it might require more than one CD...if so, it would be interesting to know.

I was also thinking about some of the sounds and if we can expect new areas of the game to be accompanied by sound effects that were not in Civ II.

Thanks for checking back!

Sorry if my original post seemed like a flame. My better half has simmered me down and I am ready to post like a normal human being <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif" border=0>
ok, here we go, :think good thoughts...:
What is a dinosaur machine? Can you give us specs on what you think is a dinosaur?
Thank you for all the information that you have given to us and I can't wait to play Civ3!
Oh, BTW, I have a P2-450, so I am pretty sure that I will be able to play Civ3 with very little problems. I am asking this question for the many CivFanatics that don't have systems that are as fast or faster than mine.

Not really, because an isolated idea is not really something you can copyright or patent. It's not as if I can say "I think it's a good idea to have a 3D globe map" and then patent that idea, so that if some game company decides to implement that idea, I can sue them. More the contrary, it essentially helps us to gauge what our customers want and give it to them.

Now, we don't accept submissions that are ideas for games, or anything like that, because then the lines get a little more grey; someone actively approaches you with an idea for a game that they either want to sell to you or just give you, and you happen to already be making a game like that, which turns out to be a million seller -- well, you can see where this road goes.

Generally speaking I just try to keep tabs on what our various fan communities are talking about, and answer what questions I can.

John,

Not sure about the sound question, seems like our sound engineer, Marc, always has some Civ sounds going on. (BTW, sound guys have the weirdest archives of source sounds, it's insane. You wouldn't believe some of the source sounds they use)

As far as the game spanning multiple discs, that's generally a question for later down the road. Right now it's not even an issue, but there is quite a bit of collateral art and multimedia yet to be added, so who knows.

Hi Dan!

I have some questions related to my country.

Will Civ3 be one any other language than English? I would like to se more games to be in Swedish. But since we have a population off "just" 8,8 million people I guess it isn't worth the time.

WHEN WILL CIVILIZATION 3 COME OUT TO THE STORES?

Will it come later to Sweden than to US?

I am waiting for your reply!

By the way I think Civ3 so far looks great!!

Håkan,

With respect to a Swedish version, the publisher usually makes these decisions, so there isn't much I can tell you. Infogrames just acquired Hasbro so there's certainly a better chance of getting a localized version.

As for the release date, we haven't committed to a specific date yet so stay tuned for that.

Thanks,
