Hiawatha: Better than I thought

I don't enjoy Diety because I do not like being forced into using certain playstyles or taking advantage of various loopholes/exploits. I also don't get any satisfaction from winning only because I copied a strategy off of some Internet guide somewhere.

I do like the Iroquois, though. Fun Civ. ;)

It is possible to beat deity without using the strategy guides posted here. I first relied on these strategy guides to beat deity, it felt impossible... it was like riding a bike with training wheels. Then I mixed and matched the different strategy guides. Now I feel like I am "my own person" when I play. On many settings, it is possible to beat deity without using loopholes/exploits, basically playing the AI like it is a human (humans won't pay you 400 gold for luxuries in the ancient era.) I am not saying all settings, perhaps some settings require "exploits?"

IMHO most people who pay Civ like winning. Civ is a game, you spend your time to have fun, winning is fun, why play a game and not have fun. I think that is why there is such a tiny % of people who read the multiplayer forums compared to here...only 1 human can win a multiplayer game... (unless there are teams)

it is an insult to human intellect to play on anything but diety

I can see why people don't like the tone of this post... but if you feel offended ask yourself why. Civ is about fun, I don't think people are getting paid to play... whatever makes the game fun. Part of the fun is thinking that you are brilliant while you win... Civ is a nice ego trip. Ermak is like the barf bag on your ego trip... not in an offensive way as when I fly I want a barf bag handy.
