I was just thinking....your AI Allies Expect you to help them in there Wars and whatnot with the other civs but every time you ask them for help they ask for Rediculous amounts of money or say screw you. Then when you dont help them they act like you are the ass.hmmmm.....::Cricket Noise:: can someone tell me how to trick my allies into helping me? haha!

You can 'trick' them into helping you by getting another civ to declare war on you. The civs you are allied with either need to back you up and also declare war, or say 'up yours' and cancel the alliance.

Even if they do declare war to support you, they don't always necessarily send support (ie troops) to the war. It is just a diplomatic gesture at that point.

I usually stay far away from alliances because at some point or another they will collapse and who knows where your 'friendly neighbors' troops will be when they decide to stop being so friendly.

Troop locations are not a problem when cancelling an alliance. All troops in another civs territory are withdrawn to your nearest city when you cancel an alliance. I do agree though that the AI sucks to have an alliance with. They do nothing for you. The only advantage comes in that you can move units through their territory, which might help if you are fighting a civ on the other side of them.

Yeah, stay away from aliances! Last time I had an Allied they were allied with my enemies so they didn't want to go a war with them. They much rather canseld the alliance with me than with my enemies. Leter I killed them all tho

If I remember correctly, you are right to a degree. If an alliance is formally cancelled, troops are withdrawn to close cities.

However, the usual way an alliance is ended with the comp is with a sneak attack. When that happens you don't get the withdrawl of troops, just attacked.

I usually try to ally with one or two AI civs. They usually do stab you in the back sooner or later, but at the deity level sometime the AI seems to fight with another AI long enough to make it worth while.

It's nice because I can start building cities in their territory when I'm allied. I guess I won't be able to do that in civ3 ?

I usually cancel the alliance after my ally steals technology from me. That's annoying but my troops are withdrawn to the nearest city, which is now very close to their cities. . . . (boom, boom)
