 Sorry I haven't posted sooner, I've been working to get that Quartermaster award since April and when I'm going to see it finally, I'm sick and home from work. Well I couldn't wait any longer and checked from home, and all I can say is :goodjob: :band:    [party]

Wow, have we lost our gauntlets to the 4 Hof? We'll have to slap each other with mittens now.

Well, that was the plan, but if there's still interest we could still run one at a time here.

I'd be interested if others were. The games that I've found particularly enjoyable have been the ones where a number of players have competed and also shared their progress and tactics.

Maybe if we do then perhaps just one per month might suffice. I prefer the minor games as I find it difficult to always find the time to play large/huge games.

IMO it would be a shame to see it die out altogether. I have C-IV (but yet to complete a full game) so I could move onto those gauntlets but I'm waiting until the Christmas holidays before trying to improve my understanding of this game. Either way I can't see me giving up civ III for a while yet so if you have the time to manage both, then I'd be up for some more civ III gauntlets.

One per month was what I was thinking.

I'll start a new one up in the next day or so.

I wonder before I finished the HUGE deity Histographic game, I have drop out of the full QM.

just now, I estimate that I will finish the HUGE deity Histo on this laptop over 500 hours.

So I have some questions which don't too much relation to HOF but only civ-III play time.

1.with my current computer, which game I should engage.
my current laptop configuration:
cpu: P-IV 1.6G;
intel 82852/82855 GM/GME integrated graphic contorller.
Memory: 256M
Does it enough to play a Large Demi Histo in 100 hours (that is mean don't count my move, just AI move time)?

2.which kinds of configuration was recommended to play a HUGE deity games without wait AI too long?
(ok, don't consider of the evil Sid)

I have play Huge and Large games before, but all of them
finished rather early (less than 300 turns ,not 540 turns)

and which kind of thing will I do when I have to wait over 30 minutes per turn?
work, read, enjoy movie or something else.
I can handle this, If I suffer such wait just 20 turns .
but for more than 300-turns wait, I need suggestions.

if some thread have discuss this, please kindly give me a link. I'm not familiar with the search tools.

This isn't something I've got any experience with, but I would think that the AI move time should reduce dramatically when there's only one AI left with a single tundra city and no units :).

Yeah, there isn't really an interturn in those circumstances. It can still take a minute or two if you abandon or found a city though.

My comp is slightly faster (AMD 1.7 gig, 64 MB graphics card, 512 RAM) and it takes a very long time (5 or more minutes in later times) on huge deity maps with a lot of units.

thanks, consider of the time that AI spend,
maybe I will try Huge Monarch instead of deity.
but consider of the city register time.
(that's take minutes when abandon or settle citys)
maybe I will try after I get a better computer.
So I should try a Huge Monarch Histo, if city-register time
comes to long enough, I will suspend the game and wait a better laptop.
