Homeworld remastered

I never played homeworld but it gets a lot of praise in gamer circles as one of the best rts (4x? pseudo 4x?) games ever. You can get the old discs off amazon but it's coming to steam now in a remastered package (probably just resolutions) in a month. So anyone got a decent experience with it? Worth picking up? Wait for a sale?

It is RTS, with 3 dimensional space. No 4X. No idea if the Remastered will be good or not, hopefully it will be since you can't legally buy Homeworld online but we won't really know until after it is out.

is it good though? Some people act like it's the best rts ever.

I have Homeworld 2, it is pretty good. Very much an RTS though, I still prefer slower paced games.
