Turn172-Lugdunumb.jpg

The city that has withstood raid after raid by Imperial Regentian Troops has finally been eradicated from the face of the Earth. Eight catapults and their crews have been impressed into the Regentian army, and a man of royal stature is seen riding full speed towards Camulodunum. It is assumed this man is Calis.

The reserves, exhausted but still able to fight, ride towards the final Celtic stronghold of Camulodunum.

The Battle of Camulodunum
(4/4) Regenthorse vs. …
The regenthorse arrives at the open city of Camulodunum. Because of its defenselessness, and the fact that Lugdunum was in riots as the Regentians attack, must prove that the Celtic people were indeed tired of the slaughter, the murder, the razings. Upon arrival, the commander sees the Celtic peasants, oppressed by the Feudalistic government of Calis, running out of the city in masses; they know what fate awaits them in Regentian hands. The royal figure did not stop in town. Instead, he fled to the coast, where a makeshift vessel was ready for him. It shoved off before a regenthorse detachment was able to stop it. Luckily, the RSS Eggnog intercepted the ship, and sent it to the depths. Calis was seen, sword drawn, standing silently on the bridge as it went down. The Celtic civilization is over.

Calis, a big thanks for participating in this game. I had a load of fun playing with you and attempting to play you against vikingruler. You put up one hell of a fight, especially at Lugdunum (those catapults pissed me off more than you can imagine). I don’t know how many regenthorses died attempting to take it; perhaps you still have the battle logs. May we meet again in the future; it would be an honor! :salute:

Again, I’d love to hear your questions/comments/clarifications Calis. My spoiler thread at CDZ follows:
Spoiler :

SpikeIt, my friend, my buddy, my dear ally since turn ten of this game: Congratulations! The Alliance is victorious! We sacrificed, built, and talked for quite a long time. My border cities had no protection at all since our alliance was born; you gave up your iron so that I could build regenthorses; you shared your technology and wealth. Thank you for being the best damn ally a person could ask for! :goodjob:

The way I see it, we have three options:
  • 1. Race to space: Promise no wars for the duration of the game and see who can build the spaceship first.
  • 2. Continue as a normal game. Whatever happens, happens.
  • 3. Declare a joint victory and end the game. We win!
One and three work for me. I couldn’t bring myself to attack you, so option two would be difficult unless you made the first move. I know that your time is getting limited, so option one wouldn’t be what you need. Again, whichever one you want.

And that’s all I have. :)

Graciously,
RegentMan
Premier of Regentia, Governor and Lord Protectorate of the Iroquois Nation, and Punisher and Dictator of Celtia

Turn 172 played and sent to SpikeIt.

LOL. The RSS Eggnog saves the day. So when does the party start in SpikeIt City? [party]

Seriously though. This game was a lot of fun. I can only imagine what RegentMan's spoiler is like. Our alliance stood the test of time from practically turn one. One source of iron and one source of saltpeter on our meager continent. Cooperation was the only way.

Calis, thanks for a great game. Its too bad you and VikingRuler hit it off poorly so early. A better relationship could have made a huge difference in the outcome. Sorry I don't have the time for another, but if we ever cross paths in the future, I'd be honored to play with you again.

RegentMan, Premier of Regentia, Governor and Lord Protectorate of the Iroquois Nation, and Punisher and Dictator of Celtia, and Eternal Ally of the Persian Republic. Our trusting alliance was truly one for the ages. Having accomplished our goals together is enough of a victory for me. I had a blast with our mock wars and loved the final victory march even if Persia ended up a bit late to the party in the end. My cavs were one turn away. Oh well.

Continuing play from this point wouldn't bring me anywhere near the same joy anymore. My schedule aside, Persia couldn't bear to battle our Regentia friends. Taking into account my schedule now and upcoming, continuing this saga would only end up a burdensome drag. I had a blast playing this game with you and would be priviledged to play another in the future when time allows it. This game would have been extremely different if our nations weren't so trusting and cooperative for so long.

Bravo to the Alliance!!

Sounds good SpikeIt. This game looks to be over, with The Alliance victorious! :hammer:

Again, kudos to all parties involved. This game's thread is the ninth most popular thread in this forum reply-wise and thirteenth view wise! I invite everyone to read my spoiler:

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3006

Everyone should find it an interesting read.

SpikeIt: If you'd like, you can play two saves: one where you retire, and one where you don't. I'll then retire in the one you don't and send it back, that way we each get a victory screen and replay. Up to you, of course. :)

I think I'll take it as my final title. Quite a mouthful... ;)

Yours,
RegentMan

Sorry for the late answer, but I also had a lot of fun and want to thank all participants for the great game. :goodjob:

@RegentMan: I am definately going to have a look at your spoiler thread!!

regards to all

Calis

I want to congratulate SpikeIt, RegentMan, and Calis for a great game played. It was a lot of fun for my first PBEM. Just don't think the next time I play aganist any of you it will be so easy to defeat me. ;)

Don't worry vikingruler, each game is different. :)

Turn173-Replay2.jpg

Although something was proven in this game: early wars must result in a very beneficial outcome. SpikeIt and myself didn't have to worry about maintaining an army, which allowed us to get to republic so quickly. Once we were there, there's no catching up.

Especially since we were able to keep founding cities. Not only that, but growth was our number one priority. Food is power. Remember that.

Turn173-Replay3.jpg

RegentMan: Nine cities.
SpikeIt: Eight cities.
Calis: Four cities. ?
vikingruler: Three cities. ?

Turn173-Replay4.jpg

The last one was the situation the turn before I declared war on vikingruler. Both vikingruler and Calis still had cities to found. SpikeIt and I had moved on to greater things.

Although I bet this is what y'all would have prefered to see:

Ruins at the Homeland

;)

And here is Calis, being very wise:

:D

Hope to see you all in the future. :)
