This game is GREAT! Possibly the best Civ version so far.

I play Persia and I use my imortals as well as horsearchers to spread havoc deep into enemy teritory by pillaging their cottages, mines and farms. And guess what? It makes me lots of money. :D

Alert!! Perisan horsemen are coming! Run for your lifes!!!

Just upgrade your horsemen with more chance to fall back from battle if they are attacked by those nasty spearmen.

I haven't got Civ4 yet. Your hording sounds so evil and fun! Can't wait to get my copy! But how can you get money out of it? Do you mean capturing enemy cities?

you get gold for pillaging the improvements from a tile, eg. farm, mine, cottage etc.

Yes. And you get money for each level of cottage razed. So if it is grown to a village you pillage it 3 times and get 3 times money from the same tile. The first time it's razed down to hamlet, second time - down to cottage and next - down to the ground.

And the AI loves building cottages so there's always a good plunder. :D The war is expensive, you know, so better the enemy pay for his own annihilation.

Besides that the horsemen aren't that useful for attacking cities. Cities you get with swordsmen, axemen and catapults.
