It seems that you are in war until you empire is completely upset and losing pop. because of starving because of the amount of entertainers needed to keep them happy. What war ever lasts for 20 years in the modern era (20 rounds). It is completely rare. 10 years (10 turns) is extremely long war. What about mini-engagements? Wars that have a few battles and are over. It seems realistic that someone would like to get a peace settlement if they are getting their butt's kicked. Even then they refuse to speak with you. I would say this needs to change. Am I alone?? Or is there a way to reset it in the editor that I haven't found?

Are the AI that dumb that they don't know when they have been pummeled?

Anyone else got thoughts on this?

If you're having trouble with war weariness, take your troops out of enemy territory. Having forces in enemy land is a principal cause of weariness. Also, losing cities without recapturing them make your people mad - but it doesn't sound like you have any troubles there.:)

I've seen this as well in the more recent patches. I think it has to do with them regarding you as untrustworthy if you break a peace treaty within 20 turns of signing it, or declaring war while you have a "per-turn" agreement in effect.

I think that in all cases this happened to me that I -- war monger that I am :rocket2: -- did one of the above.

I don't lose cities! :-) It just seems that even if they have 1 city left on an island on the other side of the world, they won't give a peace treaty, but neither can obviously attack the other so having troops in enemy territory doesn't seem to be a legitimate argument. I have even pulled troops back to my side of the border, still shelling them with art. and bombers since they won't give me a meeting to discuss peace. Just seems like they aren't nearly willing enough when they are completely on the defensive and losing ground, fast. At some point, I like to try to make an attempt when I know that I could destroy them entirely (in a short matter of time), but they won't budge. I like to offer it to improve the happiness of my people and fix up the cities I had just taken. Razing them while in a democracy won't leave you in a democracy very long. I guess the populace thinks that genocide is a bad thing. I say, give me peace or watch your people die. I'll mail you their heads if you wish. :-)

I was attacked by them on almost every occasion. I am an over-aggressive pacifist. I will leave you lone as long as you do the same to me, but if you don't I will hand your ass to you on a plate. :-)

Hmmmm....
Well that is odd then. I usually don't have a problem before the rest of the world realizes what a ruthless bastard I am. :satan:

Are you sure you haven't broken any agreements, abused ROP agreements, backed out of aliances/MMP's too early (this one is easy to do accidentaly). Even when you do this to other civ's, word gets around.

Also, even if they declare war first, give you a peace treaty, then you declare war within 20 turns, you take a reputation hit.

Change governments and procede to wipe them out. I have on occasion seen this and that's all I could do. Usually after they loose two or three cities they will come to the peace table.

What civ were you at war with. England at times just will not talk no matter what.
