How do I connect two RCA wires together?

Okay, so I have a DVD recorder and a VCR, and the RCA wires aren't long enough. I have several of each (actually, a huge basket full of various wires), is there a way to connect these together? (Moving the electronics closer together isn't feasible at this point, although I probably could use some extension cords. Is it safe to put one on top of the other?)

This isn't urgent, but I doubt mom would pay more than 15 dollars for this.

There are probably extension cables available at places like Radio Shack. They may have a connecting adapter as well. It's that or buy a longer cable.

Thank you.

I'll check the local stores.

They also make RCA switchboxes (You're probably two young to remember the A/B Printer switches, but if you do know them same concept) where you can hook multiple RCA devices to one RCA Connection. Any halfway decent electronics store will probably have these. They're not too expensive either, maybe $15. I think I paid $2 for one at a garage sale once....

I think I get the idea from looking at a picture of the switch. I have a plug like that in my box full of wires, except its for something else.

There's a few good electronics stores in town, I'll check those out.
