how do i edit barracks to produce regulars instead of veterans?
i can't find the way
it doesn't make sense that a fresh troop out of barrack is a veteran, should be regular

elite status will be more prized and valued

Well, regular units are "drafted" and just volunteers, I supposed. Barracks will let you train your units into veteren status. But true enough, "veteren" isn't exactly the right word. But compared to volunteers, I suspect they are veterens.

In the Civ3 Editor, go to the Improvements & Wonders tab and find the Barracks. Under the list of checkboxes there are, uncheck "Produce veteren ground units".

When Barracks do not "produce veteran ground units" they cannot upgrade units either. The two functions are joined at the hip.

if the name veteren bothers you so much, than just change it under unit experience.

my original idea is as below

1st level Conscript - no barrack
2nd level Regular - with barrack
3rd level veteran
4th level elite - most conveted unit

now since barrack is game fixed at 3rd level(if uncheck box to 2nd level, u can't upgrade. thats bad) i hope to have a new combat level between veteran and elite, but looks impossible

3rd level veteran - with barrack
4th level New combat level created
5th level Elite

The other problem with unchecking the box is that it makes units without barracks Regular, and units with barracks Regular. As mentioned, the best thing to do would be to make, Conscript units 2 hp, Regular 2, Veteran 3, and Elite 5 or even more.
