How do I install mods, new civilizations, scenarios, etc.?

I'm trying to figure out how to download these, and all I keep getting are .rar files that I have no idea what to do with.

Help, please?

Welcome to CFC!

You need a program that will extract rar files to start with. The last version of winzip I tried didn't support rar files, ori posted a link to one program that does support them in another thread (you should be able to search for it), I use Extract Now (you can google for it). Once you have extracted the files you have to put them in the right place and not using mods I can't help you with that one. You should find some instructions in the thread for the mod or scenario, or maybe someone else will come along here with experience in that area.
