How do i keep the peace with the AI?

Aimless gun has got it figured out. I've been playing on immortal using this kind of strategy. I recently won a culture victory as Greece on continents immortal never being DOWed except for the end when the AI seemed to all decide a dog pile was necessary to keep me from winning. That was probably my fault though because I started just hitting the next turn button knowing I was just gonna coast til I won. I should have been continuing with making various deals. It didn't really matter at that point I was dominating. A world of CS kept them distracted until I won. I just supplied them all with advanced troops.

another important "peaceful" point: if you buddy up to a CS that's surrounded by another civ they don't like it very much. if you buddy up to 3 CS's that are all adjacent to rome/monty/etc then those cs's will get dow'd and you probably will, too.

I read all the happy/peaceful strategies and shake my head and think that they make sense, but I usually just dow my neighbors as soon as I have a decent army. Warmongering is way more fun. :):)

Not really related to peacekeeping, but if multiple people DoW on you in a single turn, then you can safely say they're "bestbuds4lyf" at the moment. Since the only way to keep track of AI's transactions (you'll only see Research Agreements), you'll only really know once they declare war.

Yeah, I have a bad habit of allying CS's next to civs not thinking about it. Honestly though depending on the situation sometimes it's not a bad idea. Especially if you know you are going to war with them or have a pact of secrecy against them, because ultimately you end up with forces behind enemy lines which can be really useful especially if the city can draw them off of your troops.
