I hv an update program that uses too much memory so I never start it unless I can let it run for a while. This is all fine and dandy but I have one, BIG problem...... the damn program automatically starts whenever I connect to the internet (or actually, its whenever i download from the internet. ex: loading a website, etc).

Which brings me to my question: HOW IN THE WORLD DO I STOP A PROGRAM FROM AUTOMATICALLY RUNNING UPON CONNECTING TO THE INTERNET WITHOUT UNINSTALLING THE PROGRAM?

Would editing the registry help? If so, how?

Sounds like Getright or similar.

Microsoft created a sort of API for MSIE that sets up messages between the browser and programs. I do not know much about it, or how to edit associated settings

Have you checked the program's built-in settings? (This is probably the best hope).

Although unlikely, if the porgram is monitoring your internet connection from the background, try: start > run > msconfig > startup (lists programs that autostart with Windows)

If msconfig, adware and such arent working
use a non-standard browers like Kmelon
