How do I rename units?

I know you can, I forgot, it comes with some patch, can someone please post the link to it for me or if it isn't, could you tell me how? And Yes, i do have version 1.29f for Conquests installed (i have PTW, III, and CQ)

First off, the latest patch for Conquests is 1.22 so I don't think you have 1.29.

Anyway, first make sure you have "Advanced Unit Buttons" on in the Preferences (Control + P I think). Then, you click the "ABC" button and you can enter a new name, or hit Control + N (it might be Alt + N or Shift + N ... I'm not sure).

If you are still out there, I tried to change the button settings like you said, but that option does not appear in my preferences window.
I'm in the middle of a game now.
I have the regular Civ3 game (no PTW or anything) with the latest patch
(1.29f).
I also have the PowerBar utility on in the background.
I just want to rename my aircraft carriers and such.
I have the diplomacy window glitch that doesn't show all the other civs, don't know if that is related.

It's a C3C feature only. In regular Civ III, you can't rename units at will.

Hi bryanjmcc, welcome to CFC! I had forgotten about this thread until you emailed me...anyway, here's the answer:

You can't change the names of units unless you have PTW or C3C, sorry!


edit: Beaten to it by -Fate-, although he is incorrect in that fact that you can change them if you have PTW.

I should look into getting one of those expansion packs, I 'll try again when I can. Thanks for responding so fast. Oh, before I forget, is there an editor utility that I could use for my reg version?

The regular version should come with an editor.

I meant, like the PowerBar program that I use to Play my reg Civ 3 version that I can use to rename units(if I can't/don't get an expansion).

I'm pretty sure there isn't one, though I can't say that there isn't one because I don't know about every single utility that ever came out.
