It's obvious that we need to claim these 4 gems for Japanatica, but there has been a great deal ofdiscussion on how to do this, beginning on page 4. There are 3 proposals, each represented by letters on the map below. All of these will eventually claim all of the gems. If I have missed your proposal, deepest apologies. Please, instead of shouting at me, just vote “other” and post it again. This poll will be open for 24 hours. And now, here’s the map:

NOTE: The letters refer to settlement locations. Two letters, two settlers.

That discussion, as the last one we had for the capital, is equally hopeless until we have mapped south of that mountain, then we may factor in if there is needed food production, military and strategic needs even more. Besides, going for Iron Working would make perfect sense now that one of these hills and mountains, statistically and surely must have some iron, and that will dictate future citybuilding to some extent. So this poll is almost as irrelevant as the Compass Poll.

Since I have to vote, I choose "other". Options B and C are too close to the water for my liking. Option A someone could still concievably steal one of the gems from us. Option B/C was not available. I still would prefer to wait before making a decision on this.

Oh, wait, one other issue to clear up: the B and the C are on the same tile, but they aren't "option B/C." Option B consists of a city on the B tile and a city on the "B/C" tile, and Option C is a city on the C tile and one on the "B/C" tile. Also, as this is a public poll, changing votes is allowed.

Noldy, what are you putting in your coffee? Elf Gahngi? I would have voted for option B had I not just read the above post. Please, voting for a two city option when we haven't even start building our first settler? Sheesh. :thumbdown :wallbash: :smoke:

But I like B/C as a city site and I don't like the others, just to make myself clear. And I would NEVER put 2 cities that close together.

The problem I see with any colony is that we don't know where anybody is yet. If they are far away, no problem, but if they are close a colony could easily be gobbled up by them building a city.

Also, we don't have enough military might to protect colonies yet, and barbs could be a problem soon enough.

When the city is surrounded by mountanins it will not grow (I mean population will not grow) and it is no problem in building cities so close in that case. I woted C.

I voted C, however, this poll really should wait until we have fully explored the area around the Gems (which should occure next turnchat). We'll have at least a very good picture by then if not 100% complete

I voted other as this is a 2 city poll, I wouldn't put 2 cities in that small of an area ever. I would probably put one city on the "B/C" tile, the begin looking north for my 3rd city.

I like to propose the tile exactly between C and Warrior-san (also touching A and B). A coastal tile, no wasted squares and after some deforestation, 3 grassland tiles to work on. I really don't like the two city approach specified above. By the way, not very significant a question, but is A on the river? Can't tell for sure on the picture.

I agree with waiting to see more of the surrounding terrain before making a binding decision about where to place a settler. More map information helps make a better decision - especially since we are multiple turns away from actually settling the spot.

Arigato :hatsoff:

Abstain, public poll.

Warrior is close and settler won't come yet so poll doesn't make sense. Discover teritory close to river so we can take those gems. If AI takes gems on mountains we'll eat them culturally :).
I like CC option most but i'll vote abstain at this poll.
OK there is no abstain :) Other then.

If the polls were clear enough I would vote for Site B. But since Option B inclueded Site B and B/C. I would have to abstain. Noldy, from one person who just relearned how to write a poll to you, here is the link to the old PSC from DG3, I hope that the information in this thread would help with future poll writings :) (Note: The Advice in the thread had information from the pre vB3.0 forums ;) )

This proposal may not get all of the gems, but we can still get the plains and coasts. This city may not be as big but it will grow and still get good production and lux.
