how do you compare civ3 to the game Risk?

@ general_kill - There was a "Diplomacy" board game many years ago. I suspect some of the Civ diplomacy was based loosely on that game.

There "was" a Diplomacy board game? Diplomacy's still big and going strong. It's still being sold - there was a new version with shiny metal pieces recently. It's one of the few games where victory is entirely due to strategy - there are no dice, and no luck is involved.

It's just hard getting seven patient people around to play the thing.

edit - I have no idea. I somehow read this as "what was the original risk game". My friend had a real old Risk game - I think it was from the late 1950's.
