How do you optimize view city screen?

I was wondering how anybody here optimizes the view city screen (not yours, someone else's city), especially when you first establish and embassy. I have heard that you can deduct quite a bit of information from that one screen alone, but for myself I never seem to get anything more than what type of luxuries/resources the civ has and maybe an overall impression of their military strength and infrastructure based off what units are defending in the city and what improvements have been built.

hmmmmm, when you make an embassy you see the enemy capitol city, only you see what you can see with your capitol city too.

if you want to find out more info plant a spy, then you can see the military of that civ.
